UB42 are a tribute band based in Birmingham

UB42 formed in 2009 to re-create the look and sounds of the biggest
reggae act in the world today UB40.

UB42 are a fully live eight peice band based in Birmingham, the home of the UK reggae scene.

Between them, members of the band have had top ten chart hits and have toured the world with various bands inc

luding The Selector and The Specials, The Beat, Gwen Stifani and Cindy Lauper.

UB42 are quickly gaining the reputation of being one of the top tribute acts in the country.

The band is also attracting the attention of other top bands and have had a few special guests appeering along with the band from likes of Steel Pulse, The Specials and The Selector, and of course UB40 themselves

The band were chosen by UB40 fans to play both the 2010 and 2011 official UB40 fanfests.

The days leading up to christmas 2011 I found my self just aimlessly trolling through different websites and ended up on you tube.

I was amazed to see quit a few of you had made your own movies while at the show.

I have added a few of these videos here for you to take a look at, and would like to thank the members of these videos for sharing their time and experience of Dubs at the Castle with us.

One man and his camper van Dubs at the Castle Caldicot 2010

At the Dubs at the Castle VW show event 2010 we were lucky to have with us the BBC2 hit show One man and his camper van.

This is what Martin Dorey said about the TV show:

One Man and his Campervan is a ten part TV series that was commissioned for BBC2 Daytime in April 2010 and produced by Plum Pictures, a part of Hat Trick Television. We filmed t

he programmed over 5 weeks in the summer of 2010. Each episode takes place in a different area of the country and sees me

meeting local producers, foraging, fishing and finding out about locally produced food. I then cook with whatever ingredients I find, either in my beautiful 1970s VW Type 2 Bay Window camper van, over an open fire or on the BBQ. We covered 2500 miles in the show and visited some wonderful parts of the UK, including The Trossachs, Angus, Northumberland, The Lakes, The Dales, North Norfolk, Caldicot, Pembrokeshire, The New Forest and where I live, North Devon.

We would like to thank Martin Dorey and his crew for taking time out to be with us on the Dubs at the Castle weekend and wish him all the best for any future series.

Our online ticket sales are now open for you to buy your 2012 event ticket today.

The single event adult ticket will admit one person for the hole weekend including camping, remember that is three nights camping if you chose to stay with us for the Friday, Saturday, & Sunday Night.

And that’s not just it, we also allow all children under the age of 15 yrs free entrance to the show.

This years event is to be an online ticket sales show only.

Caldicot Castle

Find out about its past with an audio tour, explore the medieval towers and take in the breath-taking views of the parklands and surrounding area

from the battlements.

Caldicot Castle is set in fifty five acres of beautiful Country Park. The river Nedern winds its way through areas of woodland and pasture and the wildlife pond is complete with a pond-dipping station. The park offers an ideal setting for picnics and walks against the magnificent backdrop of the medieval castle walls, with picnic tables and barbecue hearths on site…

 Castle in the twentieth century

From 1885 to 1963, the Cobb family owned the castle. Joseph Cobb’s family remained at the castle after his death and it was his son Geoffrey Wheatley Cobb, and in particular Geoffrey Wheatley’s wife Anna, who continued the work of restoration.

Geoffrey Wheatley died in 1931. In 1943, after Anna’s death, the castle passed to Joseph’s grandson, Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Cobb. In part to counteract the shortage of housing in Caldicot at the time, Geoffrey and his wife Barbara opened the castle to a succession of young married couples and families, who rented furnished apartments in three of the towers and in parts of the gatehouse.

In 1963 Chepstow Rural District Council bought the castle from the Cobb family for £12,000. By then a lot more council housing was available locally and the tenancies gradually came to an end.
